Prep is most of the job

Exterior paint fails from underneath. Loose paint has to come off, bare wood has to be primed, and gaps around trim and windows have to be caulked before a finish coat goes on. Skip any of that and the new paint peels along with the old.

We look at the whole house first and tell you what we see: where paint is failing, where wood is soft, and what needs attention before it is worth painting over.

Exterior paint needs mild, dry weather to cure, so the outdoor season in southeast South Dakota runs roughly from late spring into fall. The calendar fills up, so it pays to ask about an exterior project early, even if you are months away from wanting it done.

What we paint outside

Siding, trim, soffit and fascia, entry doors, garage doors, sheds and detached garages. Decks and fences are handled as their own projects, because stain and paint behave differently on horizontal boards than on siding.
